Play that funky music on a Nokia 5530

Sibling rivalries heat up now that Christmas is neigh and, yes, Virginia, that includes an inadvertent race between Nokia 5530 and Nokia 5800.
Hitting the market just six months apart, and with the two models almost having similar features, the Nokia 5530 has been called the younger brother of the 5800.

That’s cute. But what consumers want to know are: Which is better in terms of value for money? Look? Capabilities?
In short, which one deserves a place underneath the Christmas tree?
Since both are Nokia XpressMusic models, many will buy either primarily for the superb sound quality. It’s a stalemate in that department because both have stereo speakers with surround sound (for that “Boom Boom Pow” aural experience).
But when it comes to the finer details, the songs in this mini “playlist” make a pitch for the Nokia 5530:
1) “Colour Everywhere” by Christian Bautista
The Nokia 5530 phone casing comes in combinations of red on black, blue on white, grey on black, pink on white and yellow on white.
The first we recommend to the hot-blooded jocks, the second to the serene scholar, the third to the Bellas, the fourth to the Hannah Montanas of this world, and the fifth to the I-think-I’m-gonna-march-down-the-streets-flashing-the-“L”-sign type.
The camera specs will have any user singing “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper. The image capture is 3.2 megapixels Auto Focus while the video capture---640 x 360 pixels, or up to 16 million colors!
2)“Touch My Body”  by Mariah Carey
It’s a touch-based device so there’s no physical keyboard. Instead, a virtual numeric keypad shows on the high definition 2.9-inch display (640 x 360 pixels) when the phone is held upright. Handled horizontally on its left side and the display turns into a QWERTY keyboard.
If it’s your first time to use a touch-based phone, you may use the stylus for precision (and to minimize smudges on the phone screen).
And get this: Press on any “button” on the phone and the device quivers in response to the touch. It’s like the diva on a sensual high.
It also has proximity sensor for preventing unintended touches and for saving power. Al Gore would be proud.
3) “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again” by Dionne Warwick
This song makes the list because of the opening line, “What do you get when you fall in love [with a Nokia 5530]…?”
Well, the phone itself has 70MB space. As with other phones, you can expand that support for up to 16GB of microSD memory card.
Its person-centric user interface with visualized contacts makes it easy to share media and communicate with friends. The Media Bar ensures easy access to your favorite media.
The CPU speed is RM 11 434 MHz processor. And it’s Wi-Fi capable. Has FM radio. Bluetooth. WLAN. Hi-speed USB 2.0. You know?
4) “(There’s Gotta Be) More To Life” by Stacie Orrico
And there is with the Nokia 5530. Even with just 1000mAh battery, the phone has a talk time of up to 4.9 hours and a stand by time of up to 14 days.
That means more time to gossip with friends or catch up with family. Or vice-versa.
5) “Thank You For The Music” by Abba
In the Philippines, anyone who buys a Nokia 5530 unit gets 500 credits for Universal Music mobile store.
That means FREE music and video for legitimate download. Yes, for FREE (suggestion: repeat the word several times like a mantra and feel a good vibe coming on, in the words of Miley Cyrus, “like yeah…”).
To register for an account, visit the Universal Music link then input the activation code that comes with the phone. Every song or video downloaded deducts a credit from the initial 500.
The phone can store up to 12,000 songs with optional 16GB microSD card. The music playback is up to 27 hours.
You can download songs by artists from other labels via the Nokia Music Store and Nokia Ovi Suite. Music uploads and downloads can be done through WLAN, Bluetooth and micro USB connector.

If you want more, simply type what you’re looking for into the search bar on the home screen and DROID will also search content on your phone, such as apps and contacts, and the Web.
  • Capture moments: Snap digital camera-quality photos with a 5-megapixel camera loaded with the works, such as a dual-LED flash, auto-focus and image stabilization, or capture your friend’s antics in 16 million colors with DVD-quality video capture and playback. • Multi-task like a master: Keep tabs on all your messages with integrated Gmail and Exchange email pushed directly to you, but don’t let them get in your way. With the handy Android notification panel, go straight to the message or simply ignore it, and get back to the task at hand. And, a smart dictionary learns as you type and automatically includes your contacts.

Other features include a 3.7-inch touchscreen, slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, real HTML web browsing, Bluetooth stereo music streaming, microSD memory expansion (with included 16 GB card), and access to both personal and corporate email (see larger image).
